1. Washing your hair too often
Over-washing our hair can lead to dull, dry hair. By washing our hair too often, it removes the natural oils that are produced to keep our hair healthy. Every individual has different hair texture a hair washing schedule can vary, but the recommendation is every 2-3 days.
2. Not washing your hair enough
The other side of the coin is not washing hair often enough. When not washing hair enough, the body produced oils and the dirt and dust from every day life can blog the pores on the scalp. This can lead to hair loss or stunted hair growth.
3. Conditioning the roots
When using conditioner, it is important to focus on the bottom half of your hair, The hair at the top of our heads is new and hydrates, where the hair at the ends is older, dryer and in need of conditioning. 5. Tying your hair too tight
Some of us like to tie our hair back out of our face but it is important to not tie it too tight. Tying hair back too tightly can lead to the development of receding hairlines and excessive breakage.
6. Sleeping on a cotton pillowcase
Cotton pillowcases are known to remove the essentials oils from your hair decreasing the hydration. With the lack of hydration, it can cause hair breakage. The best pillowcase to swap for would be a silk pillowcase. Silk keeps the hair soft and luscious.
7. Showering in really hot water
Most of us love the relaxing feeling of a warm shower, but our hair does not feel the same way when the water is too hot. Just like when using heat tools without a protectant can be damaging, showering with boiling water has the same effect. Showering in excessively hot water can strip hair of oils and cause damage.
