COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

  • Founder of the West Island News (since 2014)

  • Co-Founder of the annual Neighbours for Neighbours Food Drive benefiting the West Island Mission, Sainte Anne’s Food Bank and JAC Food Bank ( since 2015)

  • Currently working with the Sainte Anne's Quebec Veteran's Foundation to improve the quality of outdoor visitation experience for residents and guests

  • Currently working with the Sainte Anne's Veteran's Hospital Foundation to acquire commemorative benches to recognize veterans of the Canadian Forces & current patients under geriatric care

  • Help raise $35,000 for the Ricochet Homeless Shelter - West Island's first homeless shelter, former board member 

  • Help raise six  20 foot containers filled with food during the first Neighbours for Neighbours food drive for flood victims in 2017

  • Current Traffic-Committee-Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue (since 2020)

  • Ambassador to various community organizations including; Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation, West Island Women’s Shelter, Ricochet Homeless Shelter

  • Member of the Canadian Women’s Voter Congress

  • Former city councillor Beaconsfield 2009-2013,

  • Chair of Finance Committee for the city of Beaconsfield 2009-2013

QUALITY OF LIFE PRIORITIES

  • Encourage District 4 Town Hall meetings to foster better communication with residents.

  • Form a youth council to empower youth to participate in the governance of their community.

  • Encourage further adapted and inclusive park services to all children feel welcome.

  • Expand and reinforce services to the residents in District 4

  • Continues to raise awareness of resources in the West Island that benefit the vulnerable in our community

  • Recognize and memorialize veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces current patients under geriatric care at the Sainte Anne's Veteran Hospital/CHSLD Hôpital Sainte-Anne

DRIVEN BY FAMILY AND PURPOSE

Rhonda is a wife to Daniel Gosselin, and mother of three young adults. Rhonda can be found covering news in the region for the West Island News, volunteering for local charities and spending time with her grandchildren.  Like many West Islanders, Rhonda assists her family in the care of her father who currently resides at the Sainte Anne's Veteran Hospital.

MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

  • Improve communication with residents by internet streaming of  public meetings 

  • Continue to focus on the strong environmental philosophy of our city

  • Stress accountability throughout the organization.

  • Seek diverse viewpoints when making policy. Encourage robust but civil community involvement.

  • Encourage an environment of involvement, respect and connection of diverse ideas, backgrounds and talent throughout the organization and the community.

  • Use different data collection methods, technology and communication methods such as social media in order to make the community aware of available services.

STRONG FISCAL STRATEGY

  • Maintain solid control on citizen tax burden by:

  • Carefully evaluating spending

  • Prioritize initiatives to revitalize municipal infrastructure

  • Monitor expenses

  • Encourage a philosophy of volunteering in the city

  • Build effective budget reserves

  • Strengthen the cities' long-term fiscal well-being and generate opportunities for economic development
